The client had initiated efforts to develop a reporting solution focused on participant engagement, but lacked the in-house Power BI expertise to achieve their desired outcomes. Their existing approach struggled to support a dual-audience requirement: one group needed simple, infographic-style visuals to interpret insights easily, while the other—more data-savvy users—required dense analytical views for deeper exploration. Additionally, the absence of best practices in semantic modelling and lifecycle management led to inefficiencies and limited scalability.
We delivered a robust Power BI semantic model designed to support thousands of users. The model was built on an analytics-optimised dimensional layer, ensuring performance, consistency, and scalability across reporting needs.
To support sustainable development, we implemented a best practice framework for managing the lifecycle of the semantic model and reports. This included workspace isolation and structured deployment processes to ensure reliability and maintainability.
We created branded Power BI report templates tailored to two distinct audience types: simple, infographic-style visuals for non-technical users, and dense analytical views for data-savvy users. This dual approach ensured accessibility and depth, while maintaining a consistent look and feel aligned with the organisation’s identity.
The implementation of a structured development framework reduced the effort required to build new reports by over 50%, enabling faster delivery and iteration.
All reports—whether designed for general audiences or data-savvy users—now share a unified look and feel, enhancing usability and reinforcing the organisation’s brand identity.
The Power BI solution supports thousands of concurrent users, ensuring reliable performance and accessibility across the organisation.
A consistent set of metrics and dimensions empowers the analytics team to extract insights more efficiently, fostering better decision-making and collaboration.
